He said besides the issues of common people, the problems confronting young entrepreneurs, transporters, tourism and handicrafts sectors were discussed at length.

“Actually we were persistently seeking an appointment with the PM for the last three years; however the same could not mature due to COVID-19 pandemic. Now that we got a chance to meet him, we discussed the issues pertaining to the business fraternity in detail,” Sheikh Ashiq told reporters.

He said the meeting was coordinated by Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board chairperson, Darakshan Andrabi.

“It was a good meeting; we discussed every issue with the PM and he assured us that he will personally promote Kashmir arts including GI-tagged carpets and other handcrafts at level.”

KCCI president said that new policies need to be framed so that the business sector is developed. “Our responsibility as representatives of KCCI is to ensure everyone’s prosperity. We talked about every issue — be it banking, economy, air connectivity or national highways. If direct flights between Srinagar and Jeddah are started, people who wish to perform Umrah and Hajj will be benefitted big time.”
