The team inspected the affected orchards and took stock of the severity of the pest. It was found that only those orchards witnessed the attack where the farmers had skipped the HMO spray.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG advised the orchardists to follow the ‘Spray Schedule 2022’ in consultation with the field functionaries of the department or scientist from KVK. He also advised the farmers to never miss any spray recommended by the department, especially HMO.

He emphasized on the orchardists to have a close liaison with the department for better management of the pest.

The DG further added that the advisory for the control of the insect will be shared by the department with the farmers from time to time. He also hoped that with the proper pest management and cooperation of the orchardists the said pest will be controlled.

Moreover, the affected areas were advised to spray one of the following insecticides at 60% petal.

Chlorpyriphos 20 EC @100 ml/100 litre of water or Quinalphos 25EC @100ml/100 litre of water Or Chlorpyriphos 50% + Cypermethrin 5% @ 125ml/100 litre of water.
