World TB Day: Div Com Kashmir flags-off Walkathon

Srinagar: In connection with the commemoration of World TB Day, a Walkathon was today flagged-off by Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole from DTC Srinagar Dalgate to Nehru Park, here.

The Walkathon was organized by District Tuberculosis Control Society Srinagar at 7am in the morning.

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalko Deputy Director Headquarter Health Services Kashmir, Dr. SM Qadri Deputy Director Health Services Schemes Kashmir, Dr. Jehanzeb Deputy Director Dentistry Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Talat Jabeen Divisional Epidemiologist cum Director STDC Srinagar, Dr. Jameel Ahmad Mir, Chief Medical Officer Srinagar were also present on the occasion.

The walkathon was attended by Assistant Directors Health Services Kashmir, Block and Zonal Medical Officers, Medical officers, Asha workers, Paramedical Staff, religious leaders, students and National Tuberculosis Elimination staff from State and District level and staff from JEET 2.

On the occasion, Div Com stressed upon early diagnosis/early treatment of TB and appealed to the general public to avail the benefits of latest technology methods for the diagnosis and treatment of Tuberculosis.

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chalko Deputy Director Headquarter in his speech highlighted the importance of TB awareness among masses and channeling Tuberculosis suspects from the community to NTEP facilities.
