J&K logs 12 new positive cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 12 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) even as no virus-related death was reported in the last 24 hours, Officials said Monday.

Of the fresh cases, they informed that seven were reported from Jammu division and five from Kashmir, taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,53,562.

Moreover, 16 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 05 from Jammu Division and 11 from Kashmir Division.

No new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informs that 13,789 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,18,65,264.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,562 positive cases recorded cumulatively in J&K, currently there are 111 active positive cases in the UT including 71 in Kashmir and 40 in Jammu division, while 4,48,701 persons have recovered and 4,750 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,327 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported five fresh cases while Budgam, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Pulwama, Bandipora Kulgam, Ganderbal and Shopian reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported six new cases, Doda reported one fresh cases while Kishtwar, Rajouri, Ramban, Poonch, Kathua, Reasi, Samba and Udhampur reported no fresh cases today.

Meanwhile  India saw a single-day rise of 1,549 new coronavirus cases, taking the infection tally to 4,30,09,390, while the active cases have further declined to 25,106, the Union health ministry said on Monday.

The COVID-19 death toll climbed to 5,16,510 with 31 daily fatalities, the ministry data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.06 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 1,134 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.40 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 0.40 percent, according to the health ministry.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 3,84,499 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 78.30 crore cumulative tests.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease in the country surged to 4,24,67,774, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 181.24 crore.
