J&K logs 35 new positive cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 35 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), even as no virus-related death was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, they said 21 were reported from Kashmir and 14 from the Jammu division, taking the total number of positive cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,53,382.

They also said 54 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 29 from Jammu division and 25 from Kashmir.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 16,867 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 2,16,48,925.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,382 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 293 active positive cases across the UT, including 164 in Kashmir and 129 in Jammu division, while as 4,48,340 persons have recovered and 4,749 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,326 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported seven cases, Budgam reported eight cases, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kulgam reported two cases each while no fresh cases were reported in Kupwara, Pulwama, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian districts today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 13 cases, Ramban reported one case while Kathua, Rajouri, Doda, Samba, Poonch, Reasi, Udhampur and Kishtwar reported no fresh cases today.

Active COVID-19 cases in country decline

India saw a single day rise of 4,184 coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,80,067, while the active cases dipped to 44,488, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The death toll climbed to 5,15,459 with 104 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.10 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate further improved to 98.70 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 2,474 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.48 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.58 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,24,20,120, while the case fatality rate was 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 179.53 crore.

The 104 new fatalities include 88 from Kerala.

A total of 5,15,459 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,43,745 from Maharashtra, 66,462 from Kerala, 40,006 from Karnataka, 38,021 from Tamil Nadu, 26,140 from Delhi, 23,486 from Uttar Pradesh and 21,182 from West Bengal.

The ministry stressed that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
