Srinagar: An urgent meeting of the Printers Association of Kashmir was held on Saturday in Srinagar under the chairmanship of President Bilal Ahmad Qureshi.
The meeting was attended by all the members of the Association who discussed the issues of urgent concern. “The sharp rise in printing material prices such as plates, ink besides hike in power tariff is impacting the publication of newspapers. The situation has forced the printing press owners to revise the printing charges of the newspapers,” they said.
“Necessary steps should be taken to moderate prices of printing materials (raw materials) so that the printing press owners and the owners of newspapers can get rid of all the resulting hassles,” they demanded.
The members of the Association on the occasion decided that if any newspaper owner attempts to publish his/her newspapers at any secondary printing press while failing to clear the dues of the primary printing press, then the publication of the newspaper will be stopped.
The members also expressed gratitude to the Directorate of Information and Public Relations Department for releasing the bills of advertisements, published in the newspapers, on a monthly basis.
