A police party was immediately rushed to the spot after receiving a distress call last night at around 11.15 pm, officials added.

They said the actual cause of collapse could not be immediately ascertained as the police was busy in rescue work. They said the incident is being investigated.

A scooty and a motorcycle parked nearby were damaged in the incident.

“Since the area is congested, we cannot say anything with authority as to what led to the sudden collapse of three houses, but most of the houses there are old and dilapidated which might be the reason,” they added.

Houses that suffered collapse belong to Azad Ahmad Bhat, Bashir Ahmad and Mohammad Altaf Bhat of Ghani Mohalla Nowhatta.
