Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 197 fresh Covid cases on Friday that took the infection tally to 4,51,989, while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 4,746, officials said.

Of the new cases, 118 were from Jammu division and 79 from the Kashmir division, they said.

Doda district recorded the highest 42 new cases followed by 41 in Jammu district.

The death toll stands at 4,746 after one more death was reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours, they said.

Moreover, 577 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 308 from Kashmir and 269 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours, they said.

There were 51 confirmed cases of Mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory. No fresh case was reported since last evening, they added.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 32,341doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,13,09,006.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,51,989 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 2,597 active positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir, including 1,307 in Jammu division and 1,290 in Kashmir, while as 4,44,646 persons have recovered and 4,746 have died – 2,422 in Kashmir and 2,324 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin said that Srinagar reported 30 cases, Baramulla 20 cases, Budgam 12 cases, Kupwara reported five cases, Anantnag reported two cases, Bandipora six cases, Ganderbal one case, Kulgam reported three cases while as Shopian and Pulwama districts reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 41cases, Reasi five cases, Udhampur one case, Rajouri one case, Doda reported 42 cases, Kathua reported 10 cases, Samba one case, Poonch four cases, Kishtwar reported one case while Ramban reported 12 fresh cases today.

Meanwhile  With 25,920 people testing positive for coronavirus infection in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,27,80,235, while the active cases dipped below three lakh after 43 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll climbed to 5,10,905 with 492 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The daily COVID-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 12 consecutive days.

The active cases further declined to 2,92,092 comprising 0.68 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 98.12 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 40,826 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 2.07 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded as 2.76 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,19,77,238, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.19 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 174.64 crore.
