J&K logs 245 COVID-19 cases, no fresh death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Monday registered 245 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), while no virus-related death was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, they said 160 were reported from the Jammu division and 85 from Kashmir.

Moreover, 808 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 469 from Kashmir and 339 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 43,769 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 2,11,51,748.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,51,016 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 4,903 active positive  cases across the UT including 2,795 in Kashmir and 2,108 in Jammu division, while as 4,41,368 persons have recovered so far and 4,745 have died – 2,422 in Kashmir and 2,323 in Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases, the officials said that Srinagar reported 32 fresh cases, Baramulla 10cases, Budgam 12 cases, Pulwama 02 cases, Kupwara 16cases, Anantnag 02cases, Bandipora 04 cases, Ganderbal no fresh case, Kulgam 05cases and Shopian reported 03 fresh cases.

In Jammu division, Jammu district reported 38cases, Reasi 14 cases, Udhampur 04cases, Rajouri 08cases, Doda 65cases, Kathua 02 cases, Samba reported no cases, Poonch reported 01 case, Kishtwar reported 01 case while as Ramban reported 27 fresh cases today.

India adds 34,113 COVID-19 cases

India on Monday reported 34,113 fresh coronavirus infections that took its tally to 4,26,65,534, while active cases dropped below 5 lakh after around 37 days, according to Union health ministry data.

Daily COVID-19 cases have remained below 1 lakh for eight consecutive days now.

The death toll climbed to 5,09,011 with 346 more fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The number of active cases has declined to 4,78,882, comprising 1.12 percent of the total infections. The national COVID-19 recovery rate has further improved to 97.68 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 58,163 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 3.19 percent. The weekly positivity rate stood at 3.99 percent, the ministry said.

The number of people who have recuperated from the viral disease has surged to 4,16,77,641. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent, it said.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive have exceeded 172.95 crore.
