Srinagar: J&K Peoples Conference Sr. Vice President and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil today while welcoming more than 50 political activists from Jammu into the party fold, said that Jammu Kashmir Peoples Conference will always fight to ensure equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir as it strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of the J&K which is the need of the hour.
While addressing the convention Vakil, according to the PC spokesperson, said that even after lofty promises of deliverance, good governance, transparency and accountability are missing from the scene and the administration at the district level is behaving like mute spectators.
Urging the government of India to initiate confidence-building measures to end the widening wedge between the people here and the administration, Vakil said that in order to regain people’s trust and win back their hearts, the central government must restore statehood for Jammu and Kashmir and release political prisoners, regularise casual workers and daily wagers. GoI must end the prevalent bureaucratic raj and allow the popular government to be elected without delay, Vakil added.
Addressing the gathering Sr. Peoples Conference (PC) Leader and former MLA Bashir Ahmad Dar expressed his dismay over neglect of fruit and tourism industry in the recent Budget and stressed upon GoI to announce a comprehensive economic package for revival of the same.
“Fruit growers and people associated with the tourism industry are facing acute hardships as the state administration has side-lined their demands. Although after the abrogation of Article 370, the Government of India made big promises that two vital industries in Kashmir will be boosted through special packages but it has remained restricted to statements only,” Dar said.
Dar further stressed upon the central government to come up with a comprehensive economic package and compensation for people allied with these two industries so that the livelihood of thousands of people could be saved and these ailing industries can be revived.
In the convention, more than 50 workers from different political parties joined the Peoples Conference and expressed full faith in the leadership of Sajad Gani Lone.
