Srinagar, April 30: Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) on Monday threatened to go for an “indefinite strike” after Eid-ul-Fitr in case their ‘genuine’ demands including ‘Special pay band 3’ are not met.

Demanding immediate fulfillment of their demands, members of DAK amid sloganeering assembled at Press Enclave here this afternoon and staged demonstrations to protest government’s alleged indifference towards medicos.

They alleged that higher secondary school Lecturer’s failed to deliver a single lecture in schools since December last year but the same are given preference over the doctors who serve people restlessly.

Talking to media, DAK General Secretary, Dr Mir Suhail threatened to launch indefinite strike after Eid in case the state government again failed to fulfill their demands.

“My apologies to the people who may face inconvenience due to our strike, I would like to reiterate that the government is leaving us with no other option than to confront,” said DAK General Secretary.

He asked the government to immediately fulfill their demands which include rectification of pay anomaly, enhancement of special duty allowance to consultants as doctors, two half day salary to all doctors of J&K and inclusion of doctors back to Special pay band 3.

He claimed that the nature of duties for doctors is much hectic than other government employees therefore getting two and half day salary is their right.

Mir claimed that the officers at Secretariat despite being highly qualified never realized their problems which aggravated medicos to the extent they decided to go for strike.
