Srinagar: The YNC Provincial President (Kashmir) Salman Ali Sagar on Saturday asked the YNC functionaries to keep up with strengthening the hands of the party leadership in their efforts to secure the future of Jammu and Kashmir.

He, according to the NC spokesperson, said this while addressing a meeting of YNC’s Provincial, Zonal, District and block functionaries here at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

Addressing the meeting, Salman said, “Our youth are the most afflicted due to the absence of a popular government in J&K. Unemployment is the biggest concern of our youth. The entire state machinery is focusing on window-dressing and not much heed is given on addressing the issue. Given the pace of recruitment in the government sector, absence of incentives for entrepreneurship and failure of the government sector to support local industries, handicraft and tourism sectors, there seems no end to the miseries of our young lot.”

He said other segments of the society are equally tormented on different accounts and are looking up towards NC to rescue them from the quagmire the entire region finds itself in.

Continuous endeavors are necessary in politics, Salman said while exhorting the youth functionaries in perking up their efforts to strengthen the party at grassroots. “It is youth that will shape tomorrow’s opinions and attitudes. Our party is constructively engaging with the youth, but the need of the hour calls for enhancing our outreach. Every segment of our society, be it students, government employees, street hawkers, artisans, traders are feeling disenfranchised,” he said adding, “People are looking towards Dr Farooq sahib and Omar Sahib to steer them from the hardships. We have to rise to our obligations and strengthen Dr sahib’s underway efforts aiming at securing our future. He is leading a big struggle. We here in YNC have to fight those dealing in falsehoods with facts and figures,” he said.

Exhorting the YNC functionaries to intensify their outreach, he maintained that YNC is the powerbase of NC, a training ground that wishes to excel with the party structure and an apt place for young people to influence party policies and make it more attuned to their aspirations and demands. He noted that Sher-e-Kashmir chronicled, protected and watered an identity of JK premised on secularism, socialism, participatory democracy and that now it was for them to defend this prized heirloom of NC to preserve JK’s distinct cultural identity, and political background.
