GANDERBAL, APRIL 28: In order to boost the livelihood of fishermen, Department of Fisheries Ganderbal today organized a draw of lots function at National Fish Seed Farm Manasbal for the selection of self-help groups for distribution of four fibreglass fishing boats under the Blue Revolution scheme.
On the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, N.A Baba, who was the chief guest on the occasion, was informed that the department also offers other schemes including financial assistance for the construction of houses to the fishermen.
It was said the department also provides nylon twine to fishermen to fabricate their nets, financial assistance for construction of trout and carp fish pounds, transportation facility in the shape of auto rickshaws and bicycles for carrying the fish catch to the market for sale.
Earlier, the ADDC stocked the common carp fingerlings in Manasbal Lake to increase the fish production of the common carp in the lake.
Assistant Director Fisheries Ganderbal, Chief Agricultural Officer Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal, District Panchayat Officer and Chief Project Officer National Fisheries Farm Manasbal were also present on the occasion.
