The elections of BWJA couldn’t be held due to unavoidable circumstances and deadly pandemic from the last two years. Speakers on this occasion expressed gratitude to the participating journalists for making the presidential elections a grand success and resolved to strengthen the association besides fighting for freedom of press at all levels.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman BWJA Haji Karamat Qayoom said that Journalism is a noble profession and every journalist should work honestly to make the fourth estate strong and uphold “its dignity”.

“We will issue identity cards to members of BWJA very soon, so that officials will recognize them easily during any function and event. Elections got delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic and unavoidable circumstances,” Karamat Qayoom said.

After being re-elected president, president BWJA Zargar Gulzar reiterated that he will work for the welfare of the journalists in Baramulla and other adjacent districts.

“Challenges of the media have increased and we will work together for the betterment of the organization. BWJA has extended support to professional and genuine working journalists from time to time,” he added.

“BWJA believes in ethics of journalism. We will always support professional journalists and there is no space for those indulging in blackmailing, extortion and yellow journalism,” he added.
