Srinagar/New Delhi, Dec 10: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 173 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), while one more patient succumbed to the infection.

Officials said 129 of the fresh cases were reported from Kashmir and 44 from the Jammu division, taking the total number of positive cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 3,38,563.

One fresh COVID-related death was reported from Kashmir, they said, adding that 250 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, including 138 from Kashmir and 112 from the Jammu division, in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, officials said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 57,092 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 1,72,04,599.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,38,563 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 1,618 active positive cases across J&K, including 422 in Jammu and 1,196 in Kashmir division, while as 3,32,455 persons have recovered and 4,490 have died – 2,301 in Kashmir and 2,189 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile, India’s coronavirus tally climbed to 3,46,74,744 with the addition of 8,503 infections in a day, while the number of active cases rose to 94,943, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The death toll mounted to 4,74,735 with the addition of 624 new fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been recorded below 15,000 for the last 43 days now.

The number of active cases has increased to 94,943, comprising 0.27 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.36 percent, the highest since March 2020,the Health Ministry said.

An increase of 201 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 case count in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.66 percent. It has been less than 2 percent for the last 67 days.

The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.72 percent. It has been below 1 percent for the last 26 days, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,41,05,066, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.37 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 131.18 crore.
