Srinagar: A traffic policeman was injured after militants fired at him in Rajouri kadal area of downtown Srinagar on Wednesday.

Quoting a police official, news agency GNS reported that the cop identified as Mohammad Abdullah was shot by the militants from close range while he was on duty. He was rushed to hospital after the attack even as the area was cordoned off to nab the attackers.

The status about the condition of the policeman was not confirmed immediately even as eyewitnesses said that he was seriously wounded in the attack.

Confirming it a police officer told GNS that a case has been registered in the incident.
