Kulgam, Apr 26: The students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Katrasoo in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district are facing huge inconvenience in the absence of even a single female teacher in the school.
According to the school authorities, taking into consideration various gender-specific issues of girl students, the school administration has requested the district administration several times to appoint a female teacher in the school, but the administration is yet to act on their long-standing request.
Sumee Jan, a class 12th student, said that she had to face huge inconveniences in the absence of female staff at the school. “Authorities should appointment a female teacher in our school so that our privacy needs are take care of,” Jan said.
“Due to the non-availability of a female teacher, we have to face problems that we may not even be able to describe here,” Jan added.
Another student Shazia Bashir said, “Given the girl’s issues, the education department should appoint a female teacher in our school as soon as possible.”
Headmaster of the school, Abdul Rashid Teili, told ‘Kashmir Images’ that the school administration has met the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Kulgam several times in this regard, and so far the Education department has deployed just one female peon to the school.
“Considering various privacy issues of the girl students, I urge the government to appoint a female teacher in the school,” said Teili.
However the CEO Kulgam said, “I have not received any formal application regarding this issue. As soon as I will receive an application from concerned headmaster, I will immediately initiate steps for appointing a female teacher in the school.”
