Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reported 177 new cases of COVID 19 even as no virus related death was reported in the last 24 hours.

Of the fresh cases, officials said 141 were reported from Kashmir and 36 from Jammu division — taking the total number of positive cases detected so far to 3,33,667, officials said.

They also said 96 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 78 from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 99,922 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K so far to 1,55,29,188.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,33,667 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far,  currently there are 1,311 active positive cases across J&K, including 1,138 in Kashmir and 173 in Jammu division, while as 3,27,908 persons have recovered and 4,448 have died – 2,270 in Kashmir and 2,178 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile India added 13,091 new coronavirus infections in a span of 24 hours taking the country’s total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,44,01,670, while the active cases declined to 1,38,556, the lowest in 266 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.

The death toll climbed to 4,62,189 with 340 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 34 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 137 consecutive days now.

The active cases comprise 0.40  percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.25 percent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

A decrease of 1,127 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.10 percent. It has been less than two percent for last 38 days. The weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 1.18 percent. It has been below two percent for the last 48 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,38,00,925 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.34 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 110.23   crore.
