Police is probing the case and preliminary investigation has pointed to murder in a gang rivalry or some old enmity, they said.

According to reports, the two men who were found dead had come to the spot in the vehicle and clashed with another group over some verbal dual.

This resulted in firing in which two of the three persons were killed and the other member sustained injuries.

Police has launched a manhunt to trace the accused.

Meanwhile, quoting officials, KNO reported that the incident took place on Friday morning when four men travelling in a Scorpio and two travelling in Thar car entered into heated arguments after which shootout took place.

“Four men were allegedly fired upon by two others in which all four received injuries and two of them died on the spot,” said officials.

They further added that two injured have been shifted to the local hospital where they are under treatment.

Deceased have been identified as Sabar Chowdhary and Arif Chowdhary while two injured are identified as Babar Chowdhary and Parveen Kumar.

Injured Babar is elder brother of deceased Sabar Chowdhary.

KNO quoted the officials saying that the deceased got killed in firing with an assault rifle which was the service weapon of one of the alleged accused among two who are reportedly are police personnel.

“The alleged accused are police personnel of the Reserve battalion of police and one of the alleged accused was carrying his service weapon,” police officials told KNO.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Chandan Kohli said that a special investigation team has been constituted into the matter which will be headed by SP HQ Jammu, Ramnish Gupta.

He added that prima facie it seems that dispute over land and cash is reason behind the incident.
