Mian Altaf releases Gojri book “KALI”

Srinagar: Senior political and religious leader, Former Minister, Mian Altaf Ahmad, has demanded that central government especially ministry of information and broadcasting should come forward to strengthen the institutes responsible for propagating Gojri languages in Jammu and Kashmir especially All India Radio,  Doordarshan and Cultural Academy.

Addressing a simple but impressive book release function organised to release a Gojri book for children namely KALI at Seminar Hall of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Lalmandi Srinagar, Mian Altaf said that Gojri speaking people are second largest population of J&K but they are being ignored on many fronts and time slots of merely 2 and half hour’s in Public Broadcaster Prasar Bharti is an open example of discrimination.

Mian Altaf while highlighting the importance of publishing more books in Gojri language particularly for children urged the parents to nourish their kids in a proper way so that the new generation could become more energetic and responsible. He said that drug addiction has become a big menace for the society and literature besides other publicity tools in mother tongue could play a vital role in curbing this. He appreciated the efforts of writer of the book Nazim Poonchi and stressed upon other writers to follow his footsteps to serve the community.

The book release function was also attended by former DDG Parsar Bharti S.D.Bajad, Chief Canning Officer Horticulture Department Gull Sayed, Senior IIS officer PIB Srinagar Ghulam Abbas , Shazreen Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa Mandakpal Pulwama, Writers, Artists, Educationists and people from all walks of life.

Proceedings were conducted by famous broadcaster and educationist Ch. Rafaqat Ali Kasana while vote of thanks was presented by Mushtaq Budgami.
