Dangling electric wires, decaying electric poles pose threat to lives in Zalpora Sumbal

Srinagar: Dangling electric wires, worn-out wooden poles are posing a grave threat to the lives of people as well as to their properties in Budshah Nagar Srinagar.

The residents of Iram Lane Sector-J Busdhah Nagar Srinagar alleged that they are living under constant fear due to low-lying electric wires tied with decaying electric poles which are about two hundred feet away from one another posing a life threat to the households and pedestrians.

A local resident Dr. Rafiq Hussain Lone said that the interior roads and lanes of the area are in dilapidated condition due to which people especially children and the elderly find it difficult to walk. He expressed concern about this condition citing the reason of amplification of problems owing to the upcoming winter season.

The local residents complained that despite repeated requests to authorities for improving the condition of low lying electricity poles and deteriorated condition of roads, no action was taken by the concerned till date.

Advocate Mudasir Ahmad Malik, Advocate Muneer Ahmad Bhat, Mohammad Rafiq Gagroo and Lecturer Javed Ahmad Rather, residents of the area while expressing concern about the threat to life posed by the electricity poles and dangling wires said that the area has been neglected on the developmental front and urged authorities to resolve the issues on priority basis, adding that if authorities fail to redress the problems faced by the residents then they will have no option left but to protest on the roads.
