Seeking their pending salaries, SSA teachers lock out schools in Baramulla

Baramulla:  ReT, SSA teachers in Baramulla called for a lock out of schools on Wednesday against the nonpayment of their salaries from last four months.

Teachers working under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Baramulla are up in arms against the state government for its ‘lackadaisical’ approach in mitigating the salary issues of Rehbar-e-Taleem, and SSA teachers, who are not being paid their monthly salaries form last four  months.

“SSA teachers including the ReTs are not being paid their salaries on time,” said Fayaz Ahmad Khan, a ReT teacher who is serving the department from last 15 years.

“We are pushed to wall and our families are facing starvation. We are unable to get medicines for our sick parents. The delay in release of our salaries has made our life miserable,” said District President ReT Teachers Forum Mohammed Yaqoob Bhat Adding that teachers are facing a tough time due to the non payment of their salary.

“It is difficult for us to make our ends meet without the salaries. How can we feed our families? We demand immediate release of our salaries” said another teacher, Jan Mohammad.

The concerned teachers’ threatened massive agitation and state wide lock out of schools, if the government fails to release their salaries within a week time.

“We the teachers including RETs, RRTs, and Head teachers under SSA are being forced to go in debt as w have to feed our families and children,” said Rahi Irshad, another teacher.
