Srinagar, Oct 04: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 100 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday, taking the infection tally to 3,29,889 while no fresh death due to the virus was reported from the Union Territory in the past 24 hours, officials said.

Of the fresh cases, 78 were from Kashmir and 22 from the Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded a maximum of 44 cases followed by 10 cases in Jammu district.

Moreover, 144 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 117 from Kashmir and 27 from Jammu division in the last 24 hours, officials said

The officials also said there were 46 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as no fresh infection was reported.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19) informed that 1,78,389 doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 120,10,512. It adds that 89.08 percent of the population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the bulletin, out of 3,29,889 positive cases recorded cumulatively across the UT so far, currently there are 1,157 active positive cases including 893 in Kashmir and 264 in Jammu division, while as 3,24,308 persons have recovered and 4,424 have died – 2,250 in Kashmir and 2,174 in Jammu division.

Meanwhile Daily cases of coronavirus in the country remained below 30,000 for the 10th straight day with 20,799 fresh infections recorded in a single day, while the active cases declined to 2,64,458, the lowest in 200 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

With the fresh cases, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 3,38,34,702, while the death toll climbed to 4,48,997 with 180 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The active cases comprise 0.78 percent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.89 percent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.

A decrease of 6,099 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

As many as 9,91,676 tests were conducted on Sunday taking the total cumulative tests conducted so far for detection of COVID-19 in the country to 57,42,52,400.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.10 percent. It has been less than three percent for last 35 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.63 percent. It has been below three percent for the last 101 days, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 3,31, 21,247, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 90.79 crore.

India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 07, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 05 and 50 lakh on September 16. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed two crore cases on May 04 and three crore cases on June 23.

The 180 new fatalities include 74 from Kerala and 41 from Maharashtra.

A total of 4,48,997 deaths have been reported so far in the country including 1,39,207 from Maharashtra, 37,819 from Karnataka, 35,650 from Tamil Nadu, 25,377 from Kerala and 25,088 from Delhi, 22,894 from Uttar Pradesh and 18,825 from West Bengal.

The ministry stressed that more than 70 percent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.

“Our figures are being reconciled with the Indian Council of Medical Research,” the ministry said on its website, adding that state-wise distribution of figures is subject to further verification and reconciliation.
