Admin to organize Dal Lake cleanliness drive on Gandhi Janti

Srinagar: In order to organize a mega Dal Lake Cleanliness drive from 2nd October on Gandhi Janti’s day, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, today held a meeting with stakeholders at Nigeen Club to chalk out strategy for making availability of manpower and boats besides coordination among departments participating in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Div Com said that major deweeding drive of  Dal Lake will be organized from 2nd October for fifteen days under Swachita Pakhwada of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

To make the programme successful with positive result on ground about one thousand boats and two thousand individuals will be  employed in deweeding of Dal Lake.

During the meeting, Div Com directed officers of LAWDA, SDRF, Home Guards, NDRF, NCC and other agencies besides Director Colleges to make the manpower available for the fifteen days programme.

He also said that SMC will work as coordinating department to ensure synergy between all other departments and stakeholders participating in the deweeding programme.

Besides, he instructed Shikara Association members and other groups to make two hundred boats and 300 men available for the cleaning of Dal Lake.

Meanwhile, he underlined that it is responsibility of every individual to keep our surroundings and common land neat and clean.

Moreover, he emphasized on building toilets with septic tanks to keep drains and surroundings clean from impurities and pollution.
