Shameema, who visited the spot to express solidarity with the affected, said the shops that have been raised to ground in the fire incident belong to Abdul Rashid Nila, Aadil Hafeez Dar, Haji Mohammad Shafi and Rouf Ahmad. The fire, she further added is said to have originated from a shed situated at the back of one of the shops and within just 20 minutes engulfed the four shops in vicinity.

Impressing upon the Divisional and district administration to ensure that the affected does not fall on hard times, Shameema said: “The shops had valuable merchandise in the shape of beds, sofas and other furniture items stored and when the fire spread, all the items were raised to ashes leaving behind nothing. The losses suffered by the shopkeepers’ runs in crores of Rupees. The traders had already incurred heavy losses due to the successive Covid-19 lockdowns and the latest mishap has further worsened their plight. I hope that the administration won’t leave them to bleed-financially from the damaging impact of fire.”

“Any delay in providing recompense to the affected will leave an already struggling lot on its knees. I, therefore, request the district and divisional administration to come to the rescue of affected forthwith and depute revenue teams to the spot to access the losses so that the quantum of the compensation is worked out and distributed immediately before the onset of chilly winter season,” she said appealing the Divisional and District administration to give permission to the affected shopkeepers to reconstruct their shops without any delay.

Meanwhile, Party’s Vice President Kashmir Province, Ahsan Pardesi has expressed grief over a fire incident in Aarbal Locality of Shalimar and demanded compensation for the affected. He has also urged the divisional administration to augment the numbers of fire stations and posts in Shalimar-Harwan, and Burzhama-Khimbar belt. He has expressed unison with the affected and prayed for their speedy revival.
