Let’s join hands to make ‘New India through Fit India’: Pramanik

Baramulla: Asserting that the mission of ‘New India’ as conceptualized by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi can be achieved through Fit India, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports and Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik, today urged youth to join hands in order to realise the ambition.

He said that youth of Kashmir have immense potential to contribute in nation building and there is a need to provide appropriate platforms for harnessing it in a right and constructive way.

The Union minister was speaking while presiding over a yoga demonstration organized at the famous tourist destination, Gulmarg of Baramulla district. Pramanik visit is a part of Union government’s special public outreach programme to J&K aimed at evoking public feedbacks at the ground level.

The yoga demonstration was organized by department of Youth Services and Sports Baramulla in collaboration with NYK Baramulla and other concerned authorities.

Reiterating the government’s commitment of empowering youth by means of various youth engagement activities, the minister said that various programmes are in pipeline which will enable our youth to perform progressively. The future of every nation rests on its youth and they need to identify their role for the upliftment of the nation, he added.

While enlisting various interventions taken by the present dispensation, Pramanik said that Yoga, having its origin in our country, has been recognised at the global level and steps are being taken to inculcate it in our curriculum. He said that young players of our country have excelled in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics besides stressed to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship.

On the occasion, several colorful cultural programmes were presented by the school children. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar, Director Youth Services and Sports Gazzanfar Ali, SSP Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat among other senior officials were present on the occasion.
