Farooq Khan attends virtual conference of Minister In-charge of Youth Affairs, Sports

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today attended virtual conference of Minister In-charge of Youth Affairs and Sports of States and Union Territories which was chaired by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur.

The meeting, which was attended by Ministers and Advisors of all the States and UTs, had detailed discussion on several significant issues during the conference including sports promotion towards making India a “Top Sporting Nation”, status of implementation of sports infrastructure projects under Khelo India, establishment of Khelo India Centers in states and Union Territories, Khelo India programme including Youth Games, University Games, Winter Games, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence and promotion of indigenous games.

School Games Federation of India (SGFI), Harmonization of Cash Awards Schemes in the states and UTs, fitness and sports amid COVID-19,  online coaching, fit India movement, conduct of rural sports and competitions under Khelo India, identification of budding sports talent at district level and in educational institutions at block and district level, inclusion of fitness and basic sports as essential subjects for educational institutions and bringing sports from extracurricular to regular curriculum.

Advisor highlighted the achievements of J&K and also briefed about the sports infrastructure being developed in the UT including Khel Gaun at Nagrota Jammu, Water Sports facilities at Dal Lake and Ranjit Sagar Dam Basholi, Kathua besides construction of number of Indoor sports stadiums.
