The house, sources said, belonged to one Gh Mohd Wani, son of Abdul Razaq Wani who was dealing with collection of scrap.

Police suspect that some unexploded shells/grenades may have been in the dumped scrap.

The deceased was identified as Shabnam Akhtar, 17, daughter of Gh Mohd Wani.

Five of the injured were identified as Gh Mohd Wani, 45, S/O Ab Razaq Wani; Raja Begum, 38, W/O Gh Mohd Wani; Janti Begum, 70,  W/O Razaq Wani; Rafit, 17, D/O Gh Mohd Wani and; Mukhti Begum.

Sources further said that one more injured was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wani.

All the injured have been hospitalized, sources said.

While earlier it was suspected that it may have been a cooking gas blast, the theory got negated when security reached the spot and found some cartridges and metal detectors from the site of the incident.

Sources said that the team of Bomb Disposal Squad and troopers of 15 RR are on the spot trying to find the source of the blast as they believe that the blast occurred under the kitchen floor.

Sources said that the family was dealing with collection of scrap materials and they might have stored garbage beneath the kitchen and there may have been some unexplored grenades and few rounds.

Kashmir Zone Police Tweeted:
