Srinagar: While the restrictions were lifted by the authorities, life in Kashmir returned back to normal on Monday as business establishments reopened, with exception of some areas; traffic movement resumed in full and the authorities in the evening restored mobile internet services in all Kashmir districts barring central Kashmir districts of Srinagar and Budgam.

Eyewitnesses said that the concertina wires erected on the roads by the security forces were removed today. However, the restrictions remained in place in some Srinagar areas.

Markets were open, traffic on almost all roads was plying normally and people were out for their daily courses, reports said.

Furthermore, the mobile internet services that remained suspended since Wednesday night were restored today evening in all districts of Kashmir barring Srinagar and Budgam.

“The decision regarding restoration of the services in Srinagar and Budgam will be reviewed tomorrow afternoon,” IGP Kashmir said.

Meanwhile, restrictions continued in Hyderpora and Eidgah areas of the city as a precautionary measure,” officials said.

The officials said there were inputs that “miscreants might attempt to exhume Geelani’s body for burial at the Eidgah graveyard, where many militants and two top separatist leaders — Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq — are buried.

All roads leading towards Eidgah and Hyderpora were barricaded and drones used for maintaining overhead vigil around these areas.

Officials also said CCTV cameras have already been installed at the Hyderpora graveyard where Geelani was buried on Thursday.
