Farooq Abdullah questions BJP’s claim of ‘all is well in J&K’
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Jammu: National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Wednesday questioned the BJP’s claim about all being well in Jammu and Kashmir, saying if so, how come even its activists are being killed in unfortunate militant violence.

Addressing a day-long interactive session with the party functionaries of the Jammu province at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan, Abdullah while referring to the “acts of violence against the elected representatives” called for adequate security for those elected to the Panchayat Raj Institutions, saying that they are required to visit their areas for the purposes of development and to listen to the people. “Their security should not be jeopardized,” he cautioned.

The NC president said the people, especially the youth, are facing numerous problems as the promises made with them have proved just a hoax. “The unemployment is on the rise and the educated unemployed are undergoing a phase of despair. The trend needs to be arrested by opening up avanues and opportunities for their meaningful employment on the fast-track basis,” he said.

“We are passing through most difficult times and we have to guard against polarizing forces by upholding our unity,” he said adding that division of the society is inimical to “our glorious ethos”.

“Practicing hate is a new low in politics — that pits one segment of the society against the other, which is detrimental for amity and brotherhood,” he said.

NC president said it is the duty of the youth to sensitise people against divisiveness being injected into the polity for vitiating the atmosphere with sinister objectives.
