Srinagar: Secretary Tribal Affairs and CEO Mission Youth held detailed interaction with senior functionaries and representatives of Hinduja Group and Ashok Leyland in line with directions of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha for creating employment and entrepreneurship avenues for youth.

Hinduja Group team led by Dr S K Chadha reaffirmed the commitment of Rs. 16 Cr as subsidy support apart initiatives in education, banking outreach and tourism promotion. Sanjeev Kumar, Head of Marketing Division, Ramanjot Singh, Area Manager from Ashok Leyland and Maninder Pal Singh, State Head IndusInd Bank, OSD Mission Youth Tabish Saleem and other senior officials attended the meeting.

It was decided that 1000 commercial vehicles under Mumkin Scheme will be delivered over next two months and in view of overwhelming demand the scheme will also include heavy commercial vehicles and machines. The youth opting for opportunities in transport sector will also be skilled under the scheme apart from provisioning of various other incentives.

The Group will also undertake quality development measures in schools under its Corporate Social Responsibility with focus on youth empowerment and capacity building. It was also decided to launch a pilot project of “Food on Wheel” exclusively for women applicants in the age group of 18-35 years. Under this scheme 100% input financial support will be given for fabricated and specifically designed vans with an aim to make available quality local cuisines at places of maxim tourist footfall and various urban areas.

CEO Mission Youth discussed with the visiting team about efforts being made for opportunities tailored for youth aspiration in various sectors like education, skill development, self-employment, placement, research, culture, recreation, sports, art, literature and other fields. Avenues available in national and international markets were also discussed with an aim to offer skill support system and financial as well as technical support to youth for availing such opportunities.

Dr S K Chadha reaffirmed the commitment for maximum coverage of youth under different schemes and supporting the proposals and schemes of Mission Youth aimed at youth engagement and empowerment. He also briefed about the skill development centres being established in Kathua and Budgam which will be focal points for future skilling of youth in line with emerging market requirements.

The meeting also discussed about opening of bank branches and business units in far-flung areas for which Mission Youth will coordinate with IndusInd bank wherein local youth will be trained and skilled enabling them to avail the employment opportunities in such financial institutions.
