ANANTNAG, APRIL 21: Minister for Revenue, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today visited Anantnag and took stock of measures put in place to for restorations of essential services which were severely hit by incessant rains and windstorm.

The Minister sought a report from Deputy Commissioner Anantnag on the restoration of essential services and repair of public assets, besides assessment of damage to the horticulture in Srigufwara, Seer Hamdan, Mattan, Akoora, Shangus, Achabal, Dooru, Verinag and other areas of Anantnag district.

Veeri assured all help from the government to overcome the difficulties and help relief and rehabilitation of the affected people.

Expressing grief over the loss of property and damage to fruit trees, the Minister directed the district administration to assess the loss of affectees and submit it to the government for the early release of compensation.

He stressed on the administration to work in synergy in case of eventualities for the early and better relief of people.

The Minister was informed that police and civil administration worked in tandem during rescue and relief operation.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed the Minister that adequate men and machinery were pressed into service to ensure speedy dewatering of water-logged areas.

All the roads have been cleared for the traffic and essential services have been restored in all the area of the district, Deputy Commissioner informed the meeting.
