DDC Rajouri reviews progress of work on Eco-tourism Park

RAJOURI, APRIL 21: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today held detailed review of developmental works being executed by different departments in eco-tourism Park Patli Qila and Amusement Park Koteranka in a meeting of concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shafiq Ahmed, ACD Noor Alam, Xen PHE Nisar Khan, Xen PWD Mushtaq Raina, Chief Horticulture Officer Mohammad Younis, AD Fisheries Shafiq Wani, Development Officer Sericulture and BDO Koteranka Imtiaz Ahmed.

Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam presented a resume of developmental activities including construction of approach road, service road, tracks, fountains, entrance gate, chain link fencing of 276 Kanal of land of eco-park, water bodies, nurseries of Horticulture, Agriculture and Forest Departments, huts and guest house and other assets in eco-tourism Park Patli Qila apart from developmental works in amusement park at Koteranka.

Dr Shahid held detailed review of ongoing works on various sections of Park being developed as Herbal Garden, Cactus Garden, Children Amusement Park, Residential log huts, botanical garden, water reservoirs, tracking paths and trails apart from plantation of ornamental saplings and flower beds. He directed the concerned to expedite the execution of work so that park can been thrown open for public and educational tour of students from colleges and universities of state.

It was decided that the Xen PWD shall ensure functioning of approach road, service road and main gate within a month time. The BDO was directed coordinate with departments for development of fish ponds, nurseries, flower beds, preservation and beautification of years old spring that exists in the park area besides immediate start of work on guest house and tourism huts.

Pertinently Eco-Park is being developed as first of its kind with resources converged from more than 15 departments and it will serve as destination for eco-tourism, children excursions, study tours, home-stays, amusement and different other activities. Special components are being designed for educational values particularly about local flora and fauna.

The DDC also directed the BDO to execute work on various compartments of amusement park at Koteranka so as to complete the project in stipulated time.
