Tourism Dept organizes capacity-building prog for service providers at Gulmarg

Gulmarg: As the COVID-19 pandemic scenario continues to improve and the business sector trying to recuperate from the slump, J&K Tourism Department has boarded on an ambitious programme of the capacity-building of different tourism players, reads a communiqué issued by DIPR-JK.

“It is in the wake of this initiative that a capacity-building programme was today organized at the world-famous tourist destination of Gulmarg for the service providers,” the communiqué said.

“The main motive of the programme is to sensitize all the service providers like butlers, horsemen, shopkeepers, room service providers, tourist guides and other concerned about the best ways of observation of covid protocols and covid appropriate behavior,” it said.

“This training is expected to increase the awareness among the tourism stakeholders at all the tourist destinations. It would not only help in picking up of the tourism here but would also secure all of them including the guests from this deadly virus,” reads the communiqué.

The communiqué further said: “The capacity-building programme is an ongoing exercise started from Dal Lake, Srinagar to be replicated at other tourist destinations in the days to come. The said exercise is going to inculcate the necessary encouragement among both the tourists and service providers to start their activities afresh.”

“Earlier, the Tourism department inoculated more than 95% of registered tourism players including hoteliers, service providers, horsemen, shopkeepers, and others with the covid vaccine,” it reads.

“All these measures are set to infuse new lease of life in the tourism business and help all of the tourism-related tradesmen to bring their business back on track in the ensuing tourist season post ebbing of the pandemic,” it added.
