DH Baramulla won first prize under Kayakalp initiative

Baramulla: District Hospital Baramulla was awarded first prize in District Hospital category in entire country under Kayakalp initiative for improving “Swachhta- cleanliness” at the public health facilities.

The First Prize award certificate was received by Medical Superintendent District Hospital Baramulla Dr. Syed  Masood at a national felicitation function of Kayakalp awardees 2017-18 held at PGIMER, Dr RML Hospital, New Delhi which was organised by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India.

Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare J P Nada,  who was chief guest in the function, felicitated DH Baramulla  and CHC Sankoo, Kargil of Jammu and Kashmir state in recognition to their efforts  towards excellence in promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control in hospital contributing  to improving quality health care under “Kayakalp” initiative for improving “Swachhta”  at the public health facilities.

“The hospitals of entire country are assessed under  District Hospitals/ CHCs (FRUs) / PHCs (24×7) category has been launched in the State of J&K also and through a process of assessment, as per the Kayakalp guidelines, viz; Internal assessment, Peer assessment and External assessment, the institutions were assessed. We are elated that District Hospital, Baramulla was assessed as No 1 in the category of District Hospitals and CHC Sankoo, Kargil was adjudged best in the category of CHC, “Dr. Syed Masood told Kashmir Images.

He informed that DH Baramulla received cash award of Rs. 50 lakhs and Rs 15.00 lakhs to CHC Sankoo, Kargil. As per the guidelines the 75% of the cash award goes to the Rogi Kalyan Samities for upgradation the facilities in the institution and 25% of the cash award was given to the facility teams as cash incentive.

In the grand award function, Union Health Minister and MoS in presence of Union Secretary Health, Union Secretary Water and Sanitation , AS&MD, NHM and other dignitaries presented citation and awards to the state team which was led by Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NHM,J&K , and represented by Dr. Syed Masood, Medical Superintendent, Baramulla, Dr. Munawar Hussain Wazir, Block Medical Officer, Sankoo, Dr Narinder Bhatial , State Program Officer, Quality Assurance and Junaid Ahmad Zaroo, Assistant Program Manager, Quality Assurance.
