Baramulla: Two unidentified militants have been killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces at Warpora village of Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baraamulla district on Friday

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that two militants have been killed in the gunfight, saying that his identification is being ascertained.

The search operation is going on in the area, he said.

Earlier, a joint team of Police, Army’s 22 RR, SOG and CRPF 179, 177 and 92 launched a Cordon and Search Operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants—(KNO)
