Bandipora: An elderly woman died after being run over by an army truck in Nadihal village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
Locals said the accident took place around 1:30 PM this afternoon when a convoy of trucks was passing through the area.
One of the army trucks ran over the elderly woman identified as Gul Jani, wife of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Aragam village of Bandipora, resulting in her on-spot death.
Soon after the incident, local police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body from beneath the truck.
A police spokesman said that the body of the woman was shifted to a hospital for completion of medico-legal formalities.
“In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and the vehicle has also been seized. Further investigation of the case is going on,” he said.
