“I was working as a laborer but now I am helpless being blind, I remember there were clashes going on in the area on the fateful day and to disperse off the agitators, forces fired pellets that hit my eyes leaving me partially blind,” Malla told reporters adding that he phone number is 7051422616, and those desirous to help can contact him directly.

Malla along with his family including wife and six minor kids came to Srinagar’s Press Enclave this afternoon to highlight his pathetic plight. He appealed to the people to make a contribution for his treatment so that he regains eyesight and is able to take care of his family.

“I request everyone to help me in the name of Allah, my children suffer badly due to my inability, they beseech for fresh clothes on upcoming Eid but being disabled, I cannot fulfill their demand. My first surgery was a failure that reduced chances of regaining my eyesight, however the doctors said they will try their best if I could manage money for fresh surgery,” he added.

Malla also appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to provide some compensation to him, saying that he was not part of any protest nor involved in any subversive activity.

“I was not part of any protest, nor was I pelting stones on security forces, I was heading towards my home after finishing work on the fateful day. Now I request the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide some relief so,” said he.
