Kupwara: An 80-year-old man was injured and his cow killed when a black bear attacked them in Nagamargi meadows in upper Dardpora forest area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district early Friday morning.
According to news agency GNS, the black bear appeared in the meadow early this morning and attacked a cattle herd.
The owner, Syed Qasim Shah, tried to chase away the bear, however the beast attacked the man, leaving him with multiple wounds, before other persons could reach the spot and rescue him.
A cow was, however, killed in the attack.
Shah was evacuated to SDH Sogam for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable.
