Budgam: Wildlife authorities on Friday captured a leopard from Khansahib area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday.

Official sources told GNS the big cat was capture at Kalshipora Khansahib area of district early morning by a team of wildlife department. The leopard was seen some time ago in the area and since then the department had increased surveillance, an official of the department told GNS. “At around 6 a.m. this morning, the leopard weighing 60 kgs was caught and tranquilized,” the official said, adding, “It is being shifted to Dachigam where veterinarians concerned will examine the animal.”
It is second leopard caught in the Khansahib area in less than two weeks.

Earlier on June 5, a leopard was trapped from Khudpora Village of the Khansahib. Also, a leopardess suspected to be the one which killed a 4-year-old minor girl at Ompora was caught in the premises of DC office Budgam earlier this week. (GNS)
