Pertinently, the earlier consignment of seven plants was also brought in by the Indian Air Force on May 17.

The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, while expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that it was only because of his personal intervention that has made it possible for J&K to receive 16 oxygen plants from Europe in such a short span of time, the press release said.

“I express my sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister for his continuous efforts in taking care of the health and well-being of the people of J&K,” LG said.

“Our goal is to augment the medical supply across the UT with a vision to tackle any future health emergencies. Medical infrastructure capacities shall be upgraded across the board,” Sinha added.

He also acknowledged the “synergized efforts” of various UT and central government departments/agencies led by Public Works (R&B) Department, J&K with the Indian Air Force, MoD, Consulate Frankfurt, Customs, Shipping agents, and other agencies which resulted into this successful operation.

Meanwhile, sharing the details, Div Com said out of the nine oxygen generation plants, five would be installed in Kashmir, while the rest would be installed in Jammu division.

He said five oxygen plants with generation capacity of 4,000 LPM shall be installed at CHC Kupwara, District Hospital Pulwama, Children Hospital Bemina, with 1,000 capacity LPM each. He added that 500 LPM generation capacity shall be installed at CHC Chanapora and Trauma Hospital Bijbehara.

The official said the state-of-the-art plants imported from Europe shall enhance the health infrastructure and enable the medical authorities to tackle any Covid related exigencies efficiently.

He also appreciated the role of the Indian Air Force, customs authorities and civil aviation for their efforts in ensuring timely arrival of the consignment to J&K.

Pole added that though the normal installation of these plants takes 15 days, the mechanical department shall ensure the installation in 10 days time of five of these oxygen plants to further augment supply of oxygen in the Valley.
