J&K records 1448 fresh COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 1,448 fresh COVID-19 cases and 25 deaths, officials said.

The latest figure took the infections tally to 2,99,050 and the death toll reached 4,051, they said, adding the UT recorded 1,723 positive cases on Friday.

Of the fresh cases on Saturday, 995 were from the Kashmir Valley and 453 were from the Jammu division, the officials said.

They said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of cases at 222, followed by 140 in Baramulla and 136 in Budgam.

However, the number of positive cases in Srinagar was the lowest since the advent of second wave, they added.

They said 25 COVID-19 deaths were reported in past 24 hours. Of these deaths, 13 were reported from Jammu division and 12 from Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, there were 15 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the union territory as one fresh case was reported in the last 24 hours, officials said.

They also informed that 2615 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals in the past 24 hours. This includes 1773 from Kashmir and 842 from Jammu division.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,99,050 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 28,423 active positive cases across J&K, while 2,66,576 have recovered and 4,051 have died — 2078 in Kashmir and 1973 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of cumulative score of 87,97,513 test results, 84,98,463 samples have tested negative June 05, 2021.

Till date 21,47,753 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 80,925 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 28,423 in isolation and 1,45,377 in home surveillance while 18,88,977 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
