Baramulla: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Ahmad Khan, today conducted an extensive tour of district Baramulla and took stock of COVID-19 mitigation measures.

Advisor, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar and other senior officers, inspected the COVID Care Centre established in SDH Sopore and had a detailed assessment of facilities being made available to the patients there.

Advisor interacted with the patients who expressed satisfaction over the available facilities in the hospital. He asked all the concerned to follow SOPs and related advisories regarding Covid in letter and spirit besides adopting COVID appropriate behavior for total elimination of the pandemic.

After inspection of the centre, Advisor visited Chijhama Rafiabad where he met with the PRIs delegation headed by DDC Chairperson, Baramulla Safeena Beigh and other stakeholders.

DDC Chairperson highlighted various issues pertaining to fight against the pandemic. She demanded installation of oxygen plants in Rafiabad area for effectively tackling the disease besides demanding posting of Chief Accounts Officer in GMC Baramulla so that the funds, meant to tackle the pandemic, are utilized in a smooth and effective manner. She also highlighted several other issues which included rationalization of staff in health institutions among other grievances of vital public significance.

Other delegations comprising civil society members highlighted their issues and demands.

Advisor assured all the participants that all their genuine grievances would be looked into for redressal in a time bound manner.

He hailed the cooperation of various stakeholders which made it possible to relax the restrictions saying that participation of every stakeholder is vital for total elimination of the virus.

Meanwhile, DC briefed the Advisor about the current status and position of COVID-19 in the district highlighting the positivity and recovery rates. He informed that district Baramulla is leading in vaccination coverage in the entire UT and several initiatives are being taken up to cover all the beneficiaries. Besides, 3 oxygen plants have been approved for Tangmarg, Uri and Kreeri which shall be installed shortly, he added.

Later, Advisor chaired a separate meeting of various officers to review progress on development works undertaken in the district.

Advisor directed to ensure that work on any ongoing project is not affected due to the current crisis. He stressed to mobilize all the available resources for achieving the desired results in a time bound manner besides emphasizing for strict adherence to SOPs and guidelines of Covid at the project sites.
