In a statement issued here, Mohammad Ashraf Mir said that all the members from different districts of Kashmir Province highlighted their local issues and sought prompt actions from the government in resolving them.

He said that the problems faced by people by the current Covid-19 crisis were discussed in detail in which various recommendations were made by the respected members.

“It was unanimously agreed by the leadership present in the meeting that a massive and fast-track basis vaccination drive is essential to end the Covid-19 pandemic in a practical sense. There also exists a dire need for the upgradation of PHCs and Hospital with the requisite equipment, lifesaving drugs and sufficient medical staff in order to face any eventuality in case of a Third Covid Wave,” he deliberated.

He said that the immense problems faced by orchardists and farmers in Kashmir division due to the incessant cases of hailstorm were also comprehensively discussed in the meet.

“The Kashmir division is primarily an agricultural economy. However, such ominous incidents wreak havoc on the poor farmers and fruit growers who even borrowed money from the financial institutions for cultivation. It was stressed that the administration must reciprocate to their pleas and deliver them the appropriate compensations along with rescheduling of their existing loans,” he expressed.

In the meeting it was also discussed that the developmental projects are being implemented with an utter slow pace which will be detrimental for the proposed development of the region.

“The deplorable condition of roads, faulty water and electric supplies in rural areas, halting of various mega projects including AIIMS Awantipora, proposed 300 bed hospital in Budgam were also discussed at length,” Mir informed.

He said that the members also emphasised that the government should announce financial packages for the underprivileged sections of the society and those daily wagers whose lives were shattered by the lockdowns across Kashmir division.

He said that the Party shall continue to organise such meets and with the ease in lockdowns in the future physical meets and outreach programs on grassroots level will also be incorporated accordingly.
