There are many vocational courses that can be done after ten to get on your feet.  These courses are low cost and short, which are accessible to every child.  After passing 10th, sometimes due to lack of proper counseling, children are not able to continue their studies properly.  By the way, now the information is given from time to time by the teachers who have got special information for employment counseling to the children who are doing tenth at the school level.  However, given the urgency of the times, it is important to focus on the education that seems to be needed, with a focus on employment.  The chances of getting a job by acquiring academic qualifications are very low.  That is why industrial training institutes and multi-technical institutes are increasingly playing their role in imparting business education.  Many courses can be done in these institutes after passing matriculation, which are a source of employment.

First let’s talk about the courses that can be done by passing the tenth in ITI.  Most of these are two year courses like Motor Mechanic, Refrigerator and Air Conditioner, Mechanist, Turner, Radio TV Mechanic, Surveyor, Draftsman Civil, Draftsman Mechanical, Fitter, Plumber, Electrician, Diesel Mechanic etc.  Apart from these one year courses are Cutting Tailoring, Steno English and Punjabi, Welder, Computer Hardware, Carpenter and Tractor Mechanic.  The cost of these courses is also less and the learner becomes able to stand on his own feet.  Admissions for these courses are advertised by the department in various newspapers in the month of June.  Admissions are made on the basis of only tenth marks as per government rules.  Many private institutes in Punjab, which are recognized by the government, have been conducting these courses in the recent past.  All of the above courses may vary from institution to institution.  The number of seats may also vary in different institutions.  Those who want to get admission should contact the nearest institution and get information about the preferred course in advance so that there is no hassle while getting admission.

Similarly, the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training conduct admissions in multi-technical institutions on the basis of merit in the month of June every year.  Most of these courses are of three years duration, namely Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electronic Communication, Electronic Telecommunication Engineering, Electronic Telecommunication Engineering, Electronics,  Information Science, Medical Lab Technology, Textile Design, Textile Technology, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Technology, Automobile Engineering etc.  There is also a four-year course in mechanical engineering tools and dye technology after the tenth.  These courses can be taken in the second year of the degree course through 10 + 2 Vocation Pass or ITI Pass Lateral Entry.

Art and Craft Teachers Training Course

Children interested in the arts can qualify to become teachers by completing a two-year Diploma in Art and Craft Teachers Training Course after the tenth grade.  There are government institutes at Nabha, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur in Punjab for admission in this course.  In addition, there are many private institutions.  Matriculation is also required to join the army.  To prepare for this, training centers have been set up in many cities, where enrolled children can take the necessary guidance and training for recruitment.

B.Sc Agriculture or Home Science course

After 10th, one can take admission in six year B.Sc Agriculture or Home Science course.  Detailed information about these courses can be obtained from the website of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.  If the children have knowledge of all these courses then they can choose the right course according to their interest, which will make their future better.  And employment can be obtained otherwise students can do their work.  Nowadays, the government is also providing opportunities for self-employment.  Therefore students should take vocational courses with maximum self-employment
