Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday recorded 1,895 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infections to 2,92,360 while 32 deaths in the past 24 hours pushed the toll to 3,939 in the Union Territory, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 1,262 were from the Kashmir Valley and 633 from the Jammu division, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest of 304 cases, followed by 218 in Jammu district and 185 in Pulwama district.

The death toll due to the disease rose to 3,939 as 32 patients — 17 from Jammu and 15 from Kashmir Valley — died in the past 24 hours.

The officials also said there were 10 confirmed cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) in the Union Territory.

They also informed that 3682 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals during past 24 hours. These include 2234 person from Kashmir and 1448 from Jammu division.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,92,360 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 33,276 active positive cases in J&K, while 2,55,145 have recovered and 3,939 have died — 2014 in Kashmir Valley and 1925 in Jammu division.

The bulletin further said that out of 86,05,273 test results available, 83,12,913 samples have tested negative till June 01, 2021.

Till date 21,00,700 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 82,467 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by the government, 33,276 in isolation and 1,46,091in home surveillance while 18,34,927 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
