Eyewitnesses said that some social activists and civil society members of Ganderbal attended the demonstration which was led by Advocate Altaf Lone, a renowned social activist.

The rotesters were holding play cards which read ‘No interference in Asifa’s case ‘, ‘Stop politicizing gruesome rape and murder of Asifa’, ‘We want speedy justice’.

Talking to Kashmir Images, Advocate Altaf Lone said: Threats given to Asifa’s lawyer are deplorable and we demand that action should taken against those people who are hell bent to thwart the judicial process.

“Lawyers of Kathua Bar Association should also be booked for trying to stop Crime Branch from filling the charge sheet against culprits.”

Protesters also demanded justice for Asiya and Nelofar who were allegedly abducted, raped and then murdered by security forces in Shopian in the year 2009.
