J&K records 60 COVID-19 deaths, 4,788 fresh cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 4,788 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally of infected persons to 2,11,742 while the death toll in the union territory rose to 2,672 with a record 60 fatalities in 24 hours, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 3,259 are from the Kashmir valley and 1,529 were from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said.

The officials said Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 853 cases, followed by 634 in Jammu district and 573 in Anantnag district.

The number of active cases has reached 46,535 in the union territory, while 1,62,535 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.

The death toll in the union territory due to the pandemic rose to 2,672 as 60 fresh deaths — 42 in Jammu region and 18 in Kashmir valley — were reported in the past 24 hours in the union territory.

Moreover, during past 24 hours, 2500 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals including 1590 from Kashmir Valley and 910 from Jammu division, officials said.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 2,11,742 positive cases, detected thus far, 46,535 are currently active positive, 1,62,535 have recovered and 2672 have died; 1139 in Jammu division and 1533 in Kashmir division.

The bulletin further said that out of 76,04,448 test results available, 73,92,706 samples have been tested as negative till May 08, 2021.

Till date 18,96,171 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 86,787 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 46,535 in isolation and 1,26,190 in home surveillance. Besides, 16,33,987 persons have completed their surveillance period, the bulletin informed.
