Srinagar: People aged above 45 were seen ‘struggling’ to get their second dose because of the ‘unavailability’ of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine in a health centre at Jawahar Nagar area of the city here Wednesday.

Many people including females who were waiting at Khaksar Maqbool Memorial Dispensary Jawahar Nagar since morning to get their second dose administered had to return home disappointed after doctors there informed them that the vaccines were not available.

“I have come here to take the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine but the doctors told us to come tomorrow as the vaccine is out of stock. I have been frequently visiting the dispensary but gets same reply from the doctors every time,” Haneefa, an elderly woman told the media.

Haneefa said she has taken her first dose some four weeks ago, but could not get the second and last dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of now.

Another person Mehrajuddin said that he has been waiting at the heath centre since early morning to get the jab “but staff at the health centre asked us to visit only when stock is available again.”

“Why should a common man suffer on account of the authorities’ ineptitude to tackle the situation? I am suffering from multiple ailments including high BP, diabetes, arthritis and thyroid malfunction. I have come here a couple of times for the second dose and every time was told that the vaccine is out of stock,” said one Qurat-ul-Ain.

A senior medico at Khaksar Maqbool Memorial Dispensary, Jawahar Nagar said that they administered 230 doses of vaccine on Sunday and whatever claims people made with regard to the vaccine stock is far from the truth.

“We expect fresh batch of vaccines today. We administered 230 doses of vaccine on Sunday and thereafter the stock was over. Right now, the registration process on in the dispensary, vaccines will also be available,” she told ‘Kashmir Images’.
