Department committed to safeguarding farmers’ interests: Director Agriculture

SRINAGAR: In order to ensure the availability of different agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides etc.) and to take an on-field assessment of different agricultural activities, Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today visited different areas of Srinagar district.

During the visit Director Agriculture said special times need a special approach.

He asked the officers and field functionaries to work in more professional and coordinated manner during these testing times. He impressed upon the concerned officers and functionaries while following COVID protocol in letter and spirit to reach out to the farmers and address their issues so that their interests could be safeguarded in the best possible manner.

He said that chasing the target of doubling the farmers income by the year 2022 therefore need was to take all possible steps and interventions to realize this dream.

“We have to take the present situation as a challenge and to win over it we have to work with more commitment, dedication and as a team,” he said.

Director Agriculture also visited different agriculture installations, vegetable expansion areas, exotic vegetable fields, water harvesting structures, hi-tech poly houses etc.

He asked the concerned officers to ensure the completion of all the works and programs in the stipulated time frame so that farmers could get benefitted well in time.

Director Agriculture was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Chowdhary Mohammad Younis, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Srinagar Javed Iqbal Lone, Sarpanch Khimbar Abdul Majeed Naik and other senior officers and officials of District Srinagar.
